ROCKSTAR

At a 1990s American high school, a shy teenager bullied by an older student forms a punk band with friends who become his new family and falls in love with a girl from his class. Music will give him the courage to express himself, stop hiding and stand up to the person making his life impossible.

Three seasons of nine 40–45 minute episodes, with potential special finales of up to 90 minutes.

In the mid-1990s, Jim starts high school trying to remain invisible. There he meets Sherry, becomes Brad’s target and discovers punk through Danny. With Tommy “TT” Thunder on drums, they form Teacher’s Pet and turn a garage into the centre of a new family.

Between disastrous rehearsals and first concerts, Jim finds his voice, grows closer to Sherry and turns humiliation into songs. Taking the name Jimmy gives him the courage to be heard, but growing up will also mean making mistakes, accepting their consequences and learning to care for the people he loves.

A close, energetic series combining adolescent intimacy with the intensity of live performance. A film texture with subtle grain, warm light and deep shadows lives alongside home recordings and VHS-style music videos.

Music is never decoration: every song grows out of Jimmy’s life and affects his friendships, first love and confrontation with Brad. The garage, school and stages trace his journey from silence to finding his own voice.
